Vinny D'Ambrosio, III

Vinny D'Ambrosio, III established himself as one of Staten Island's premier bowlers through more than three decades of outstanding league, tournament and professional competition.

A dominant league performer for more than 25 years, D'Ambrosio maintained a 200-plus average throughout much of his career, twice reaching a career-high 247 average, during the 2007-08 and 2009-10 seasons.  His scoring accomplishments include numerous 750 and 800 series, with a career-high 864 series, along with numerous perfect games.  His first 300 came in 1989, and he had already recorded five perfect games before 1998.

D'Ambrosio was equally successful in tournament competition.  A longtime participant in Staten Island and New York State championship events dating to his youth bowling years, he captured the Staten Island USBC All-Events Scratch Championship in 2009-10 and again in 2011-12.

His success also extended to the professional level.  D'Ambrosio competed extensively in PBA Regional competition and captured a PBA Regional Doubles Championship during the 1994-95 season, one of the signature accomplishments of a career that combined local dominance with success beyond Staten Island.
