Benny McNevich

Benny “Ben” McNevich was one of Staten Island’s outstanding bowlers of his era and the first Superior Performance inductee listed in the Staten Island USBC Hall of Fame, entering in 1977. McNevich dominated local match-game competition as Staten Island’s undefeated match-game champion for 12 consecutive years. His accomplishments extended well beyond the Island. He competed on the Professional Bowlers Association Tour, won a PBA Regional title and was recognized as PBA Rookie of the Year at age 48. At the 1962 BPAA All-Star Tournament in Miami, McNevich rolled a 299 game on the national stage. Over his career, he recorded nine perfect 300 games, with his final 300 coming at age 68. His achievements earned recognition in several halls of fame, including the New York City Bowling Council Hall of Fame and the Staten Island Sports Hall of Fame. His legacy continues locally through the Ben McNevich Memorial Award, which bears his name.
